„Księżówka” was built in 1854 on the outskirts of Zakopane as forestry building, later named „Adasiówka” (Adams’ House). In 1910 was purchased by the Society „Health House for Catholic Priests”. After the Second World War the house became the property of the Conference of the Bishops of Poland. Now it is a place of retreat and recreation venue for all Polish priests and priests from other country. For catechists and for the laity several times a year as well.

Księżówka is an unusual place to rest in peace and quiet for the pilgrims of the Polish and foreign. Around the house there is a nice and an extensive garden. Located near Krupówki avenue, and near the lower cable station for the top of mountain Kasprowy Wierch in Kuźnice. In 1997, there was Pope John Paul II, where he spent several days of private contemplation of the beloved climate of Tatra Mountains. Papal apartment is available to visit on the first floor.

„Księżówka” – is an exceptional place of prayer: a place sanctified by many hours of prayer and countless Masses here celebrated by many priests and bishops in the three chapels: Wooden Papal Chapel, Chapel of the Saint Zygmunt Szczęsny Feliński, and in the chapel in the Papal Apartment.

For guests there is available a reading-room with current newspapers, as well as two computers with internet access (wireless Internet Wi- Fi network is available in all rooms), a library, conference halls, a refectory with full or half board, coffee house with a fireplace and satellite TV, machine beverages (cola, ice tea, mineral water), elevator and other conveniences. Behind the house is protected parking for the guests.

„Księżówka” in Zakopane is situated about 100 km from Kraków and Sanctuary of the Divine Mercy in Łagiewniki, near the Slovak border. Nearly there are available Shrine of Ludźmierz (20 km), Sanctuary in Krzeptówki (2 km) and you can use the descent down the Dunajec river (20 km). Also near home are many mountain ways for walking by uplands.

Since July 2007, the house director is father Lesław Mirek, priest of the Archdiocese of Cracow.
